The ambitions of the IP innovation agenda can be summarised as follows: the best-educated workforce possible, a stronger knowledge base and more effective use of that base and, finally, more innovative capacity and entrepreneurship. These ambitions have been translated into several projects, described below. The Innovation Agenda project serves as an interface between them.
The goal of the IP is to foster innovation. This involves monitoring the roll-out of previous and new operations and determining where we need to act, and where we can inspire and strengthen.
The Knowledge Investment Agenda (2006) and its measurable objectives are the starting point. Each year, we measure progress by taking a snapshot of the situation. New opportunities and initiatives will be identified and added to the agenda.
The annual snapshot will give insight into where we stand. An IP working group will work with the network of innovators to prepare the snapshot. The working group will encourage problem-solving wherever we are lagging behind schedule. It will present problems to the signatories of the Knowledge Investment Agenda, the network of innovators and the government. The government will then use the analysis and recommendations to plot its long-term strategy.
