The central ambition of the Innovation Platform (IP) is to put the Netherlands in the top 5 countries with the greatest competitive strength. The IP is showing how this ambition can be achieved with the report entitled 'The Netherlands in the World'. The key lies in the fact that the Netherlands must strengthen its international position.
There is innovative, economic and social strength available in order to respond to current global trends. But we will then have to have the courage to intervene in a number of areas. The IP has therefore drawn up a change agenda and presented it to the Cabinet. This agenda must now be picked up by the Cabinet, business organisations, trade unions and knowledge institutions. The IP also wants to give its own impetus by carrying out a number of activities:
- |
better international education, a pre-requisite for international entrepreneurs to establish themselves |
- |
support a number of major innovative projects with which the Netherlands can raise its profile on the international stage (look under project Water) |
- |
Growth accelerator (have at least 100 SMEs grow from a turnover of 2 million to 20 million per year) |
- |
Working Smarter (social innovation) and thus growing productivity substantially |
- |
strengthening the key areas: focus on the areas where we can put and keep the Netherlands on the map internationally. |
- |
the Netherlands as an international test bed for innovation |
